Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 August 2026
This policy explains what The IdeaHunt Ideathon collects when you register, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to meet the notice requirement of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Who we are
The IdeaHunt Ideathon is organised by Mrinal Kalita (Organiser). For anything in this policy, contact mrinal.kolita8@gmail.com. We are the data fiduciary for the information described below.
What we collect
When you fill in the registration form, we store:
- Your name — as you type it
- Your WhatsApp or contact number — the 10 digits, with the +91 prefix
- Your district and category (school, college, working, and so on)
- Your IP address and the date and time you registered
The IP address and timestamp are recorded automatically to stop automated spam and repeated submissions. We do not use cookies to track you, we run no analytics or advertising scripts, and there is nothing on this site that profiles you or follows you to other websites.
Why we collect it
- To register you for the ideathon and give you an entry ID
- To contact you about the event on WhatsApp, including your entry status and schedule
- To understand which districts and categories participants come from
- To keep the form from being flooded by automated submissions
We do not use your details for anything else, and we do not send marketing unrelated to the ideathon.
Your consent, and taking it back
We collect this information because you ticked the consent box and submitted the form. That consent is yours to withdraw at any time — email mrinal.kolita8@gmail.com from the number or name you registered with and we will delete your entry. Withdrawing consent means we can no longer include you in the ideathon, since we would have no way to identify or contact you.
Who can see it
Only the ideathon organisers, through a password-protected admin page. We do not sell your details, and we do not share them with advertisers, sponsors, or any other third party.
The site runs on hosting provided by Hostinger, so your entry is stored on their servers and they act as our processor. If we ever need to disclose information because a law or a court requires it, we will.
How it is protected
Registrations are stored on the server, not in any public folder, and the admin page is behind a password with rate-limited logins. The site is served over HTTPS so your details are encrypted in transit. No system is perfect, and we do not ask for anything sensitive — no payment details, no identity documents, no passwords.
Your rights
Under the DPDP Act 2023 you can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- Delete your entry
- Withdraw your consent
Write to mrinal.kolita8@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
School students are welcome at the ideathon. If you are under 18, please register with a parent's or guardian's knowledge and consent. If you are a parent or guardian and would like your child's entry removed, email mrinal.kolita8@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
